Detalhes da observação
Accepted by the GCRC as the 4th documented record for the state based on a full report (GCRC 2017-05). It was chasing with another similar bird in the thicket, so potentially two present, but a couple of 1st year WEVIs also in the vicinity. Hard enough to get on one bird, much less two simultaneously. Dull individual with wingbars barely visible most of the time. Pale yellowish below, especially flanks and undertail, appearance of eye arcs. Squeaky song like a catbird given softly, but eventually could be discerned as the rhythm of this species and recorded using iPhone video before it finally popped out briefly for photos. (Added 23Oct22 in response to photo flag): Photos crops are terrible and grainy but show the lack of wingbars (usually appearing as one faint wingbar). Bill looks like it may possibly have some damage. Tail looks deceptively short in the photos compared to views of the bird in the field in near direct comparison with juvenile WEVIs. Original eBird notes updated above to reflect acceptance by records committee.
