Continuing in northeast arm of the pond. Came out promptly at 7:10 from within a reed patch maybe 12 ft from the path, just north of the culvert near the bend of Tom Miller St. Excellent looks at this gorgeous small rail with rich rusty front; streaked rustyish and black back; black, rather amorphous side panel with thin, vertical white streaking; gray face; and red-orange decurved bill. The bird foraged around in view for about 5 minutes and seemed unbothered by passersby. Thanks to Ryan for the guidance. Alison long-awaited lifer!
