Detalhes da observação
*rare; very gratifying bird to find, since I have for the two days prior been trying to see a bird giving a high, sharp metallic Emberiza chip from the dappled slopes of Woodpigeon Slope and I was thinking it was Gray Bunting. Tiday, with the rain and wind, I thought it might have moved into a more sheltered area so I checked the small trail that runs north and found a small 10x10m clearing and when I entered a small bird flew up at the back corner. Ingot a good look at this female for about 20 seconds: fairly large, chunky bunting with thick-based bill that was washed throughout with rusty brown and made the face pattern look indistinct and muted. It had indistinct face pattern with contrastingly pale malar, supercilium and ear spot. The underparts were washed brownish with some broad blurry streaks. Back was streaked. I got audio of it chupping after it moved back into the bamboo, and while I did not actually see the bird calling, I have not had any other buntings here for last three days (a Black-faced about 150-200m distant was closest) and am certain this was the bird; hopefully the audio confirms the ID
