Detalhes da observação
Adult male initially seen at 8:25 in the middle of a flock of ~50 scoters, slightly larger than the surrounding scoters. Immediately could tell it was a male eider as the size and the white coloration stood out. The next notable feature was an orange knob on the beak and a gray face, along with a peachy wash on the neck and breast. As the bird showed a profile there was a distinct line between the breast and the rest of the body which was dark. As it flew South the white wing patches and the patches on rump were seen. Later refound by Gautam Apte and Jim Schill by the Convention Center in Cape May before hanging around the point the rest of the day. Poor photo due to the camera being tucked away from the rain, got pulled out late and only caught the bird as it was at least half a mile away
