Detalhes da observação
White wingtips; short tail; mostly circling and gliding, but when they flapped, they flapped with a number of quick, short wingbeats (different flight style than turkey vultures, who flapped deeper and slower and less often, and also had the obvious dihedral, tipping side to side). One circling much higher than turkey vultures (8 TUVU circling at that time) and drifting northeast-ish… (from park side where I was, flying away); then the same bird or another came back the other way, a bit lower, heading toward me (toward the park). Then 5 more at once: 2 plus 1 pretty high, and two lower. All 5 were coming from the opposite side of the river toward me (toward park)—in quick succession, so definitely not double counted. Known location for both species of vultures. Minimum count, more sightings, but hard to know if they were the same individuals or not. Photos to add later.
