Detalhes da observação
A short 15-20 minute walk from the village of Bonkro and we arrived at a massive angled rock in the forest, it was now around 15:45 and we took our seats on a fallen log to wait for the Rockfowl. The light began to fade and then at 16:47 the first bird bounded into view from our left and perched on a buttress root, and then another and. another, the flood gates had opened and at least 12 birds arrived within the next five minutes or so. Some dispersed to the other side of the rock while others sheltered below the rock occasionally visiting the nests but mainly preening and occasionally chasing one another in long bouncing hops. Occasional very quiet pig-like snorts and grunts were heard as the birds interacted but largely the birds were silent. At around 17:15 we decided to leave the birds in peace, this had been one of the absolute highlights of my birding life.
