The first Stints of the day were three that were hunkered down in the gritty little dunes on the inland side of the Spit... and they simply wouldn't budge when I started photographing; they were the best possible subjects for a photoshoot, from their postures to their demeanours!!! However, things got even more remarkable out on the beach; there, at least a hundred Stints were massed in various places in the ridges and dried out Kelp, forming the tight little camps so favoured by their kind... to see so many so close was absolutely remarkable, and the best views of all were to be had when I crept up on the biggest camp of all; I knew that if I stayed in the dune grasses, there would be a nice barrier which they would trust me not to cross, and only flee if I betrayed that trust. This is easily the best method to get close to Waders and it worked like a charm as always, as the photos below shall attest to...
