Detalhes da observação
The Spotted Towhee was in the south brush pile of the parking area/boat ramp of Pool # 8 as described by previous observers. Wind speed about 15 mph. which kept the birds observed with the Spotted Towhee (White-crowned Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows, Northern Cardinals) low in the brush pile and seldom moving about. Several minutes after arriving, the Towhee, along with Cardinals flew across to the west side of the main road, where they hunkered down for about 30 min. before returning to Pool # 8 parking area brush pile. Of the time spent watching for the Towhee, it showed itself only briefly a few times and barely visible through the brush. It did once perch about 3 ft above the ground, the highest I observed it, called several times before disappearing again. The photo is from this higher perch. See photo for ID documentation. In transitional plumage. Photograph was taken at 8:31 am.
