Bird walking slowly next to salt grass, intermittently calling. Giving a "tick tick tgreer" with varying numbers of "ticks". The tide was out and the bird was in a muddy area in a small ditch. This call was also recorded in ML 2878 and 2879. Habitat: Salt marsh tideland by freshwater impoundment. BNA: I suspect this bird was instead Rallus longirostris given both that it was recorded in saltmarsh and that the pace of these calls is faster than that for calls in ML 2878. The tendency to have multiple "kek" notes before the "burr" may also be more typical of R. longirostris than of R. elegans [??] These 12 vocalizations all appear represent the "Kek-burr" of BNA account for Rallus longirostris.
