Detalhes da observação
Audio uploaded. I heard the same song on a previous visit but did not count the bird as it differed slightly from the songs on my Sibley and Merlin apps. This time I saw the bird in the photo singing the song here. Buzzy, insect-like quality. There were at least nine birds judging from their singing, but only one (photographed here) made itself visible. The others stayed low in the grass even when I got within 3-5 feet of them. See attached map: one bird a little ways beyond the gate; another two near the road running north about 2/3 of the way towards the abandoned radio station; two on the far south side of the preserve heard from the road. The interior X is where there were at least four singing at once, including the one in the photos. FYI it requires either a long walk, or some bushwhacking around the fence and a medium walk. The Y spot is (as I understand it) the traditional best spot for the sparrows.
