(snapping pictures) water, boat motor. 10:56 lh calf head slapping, rising halfway out of water and then coming down on her belly, we have a lunge by one of the whales what we call a lateral tail slap ...this is some aggressive behavior being shown between two adult whales (BLOWS) ... inflated head rise by animal on the right, calf on the left, escort on the right two escorts, flukes coming ... 0% ...three adults and a calf here, calf coming out of the water and head slapping, adult coming with a huge peduncal slap lateral tail slap ... so they're displaying we think to each other prob alot of underwater activity as well ...another headrise ...12:38 boat riding waves, water, boat motor ... 13:21 whale blows ...good ambi of boat, rough conditions on water 16:47 lh nice head slap frame 6 16:51 whale blows, escort coming up, flukes coming, flukes coming right, frame 7 was the 0% 19:12 lh fluke's coming 19:19 lh nice breach by the CALF 19:34 lh calf still breaching...fairly large calf. 20:48 Blows, 20:57 again 21:45 ac another pod coming in now 22:40 lh notice that the calf is head slapping while the mom is pec slapping 23:57 lh got a change of direction here, turned south, they were going is north 24:32 they have changed direction at least one of them is heading south. 25:42 lh calf is still head-slapping. 26:44'lh one animal going lateral to the rest ... fluke's coming 28:38 lh mom and calf are second in line escort in front, mom and calf, then escort behind and another one behind that. 29:39 ac you think some of these animals are trying to scare off some of the others? --oh absolutely this is a competitive field here 29:59 lh yeah def there is alot of competition taking place, we have three escorts and a calf and poss four escorts and they are actively trying to intimidate each other and we saw one escort ahead of the mother and two others behind that one 30:37 BLOWS --lh whoaa --it's not unusual, part of the way they sort themselves out after all this is a highly social sit w alot of comp between the males ...how they sort themselves off we have to wait and see ...and it can get to violence they'll strike each other...
