Detalhes da observação
Continueing. Went back to get more and better photos today. Got dozens of photos of the perspective Mexican Duck, from many angles. Photos I got yesterday lacked in detail. I believe this still to be a pure Mexican Duck for two reasons. First, the head was pointed out as being pale enough for Mottled, too pale for Mexican. However, looking at my photos and those of Mexican Ducks and Mottles Ducks on Macaulay Library, I think the head color says Mexican. Secondly, there is a strong white border on both sides of speculum. Mallard and Mexican Duck shows this trait, while Mottled has very restricted white border. Lastly, if I am not mistaken, Mottled Duck has very few records in CO, and none in winter. Mexican X Mottled Duck does not have any ebird records yet. Mexican, however, seems to be a casual vagrant w numerous records in CO, and winter seems to be the most common time of year for them. I have lots more photos, and a video. If reviewers want to see bird from any other angle, I likely got a photo of that.
