Detalhes da observação
Very rare; only 3 previous Nebraska records for the fall. Basic plumaged bird found foraging in the deeper water of the large flooded field north of Nathan's Lake (same one as the Black-bellied Plover). It was a large shorebird with overall grayish plumage with slight brownish cast to wings and neck and a pale belly contrasting the darker plumage. It also had a pale eyebrow and a long bill with an upturned tip that was dark on the first half and flesh colored on the back half. I briefly saw the bird in flight before losing it, and I was able to see that it had a white wing stripe on the top and bottom of its wing as well as a dark underwing. This wing pattern should eliminate all other godwit species. It also gave a single 'whek' note that matched recording of Hudsonian Godwits that I found online.
