NOTES: "Bird was vocalizing from cattail marsh..." [As far as I can determine, the bulk of this recording combines the "Twitter" Calls of chicks (following Cosens, S. E. 1981. Can. J. Zool. 59: 1921-1928) with Recognition Calls by an adult, apparently a female (following BNA). Also heard in the background at 0:43-0:46 is the same whistled call highlighted in LNS #2810 (this call-type remains unidentified). I suspect the series at 2:04-2:18 represents Warning Calls by the female parent, but most of the part after the internal announcement appears to represent the calls of the chicks with only intermittent Recognition Calls by the female (4:10-4:27, 5:16-5:25, 5:30, 5:59, 6:02, 6:13, 6:35, 6:46, 6:54, 6:55). The Recognition Calls at 7:15-7:33 appear to have instead been given by a male. Beginning at about 7:13, there appear to be "Squawks" by the chicks in addition to the "Twitters" heard throughout the recording; there are also a few more Recognition Calls by the adult(s). I believe the single quacks at 5:25, 5:35, and 5:48 are those of Anas strepera. Quality changed from 2 to 2-3, 2-1 (BEST parts at 0:19-0:32 (Twittering and Recognition Calls), 2:04-2:18 (Warning [?] Calls), 4:19-4:27 (Twittering and Recognition Calls), 5:19-5:25 (Recognition Calls), 7:55-8:21 (Squawks))- CAM - 8 March 2005]). Habitat: Wetland.
