NOTES: Weather: WIND; 8KM ABOVE ELK LAKE ON MAKOBE R. NEST IN DEAD LODGEPOLE PINE ALONG STEAM IN MUSKEG. BOTH PARENTS CAME TO FEED THE YOUNG. 1) CONSTANT CALLING OF YOUNG. 2) ACCELERATED CALLING WHEN PARENT ARRIVED. 3) POSSIBLE CALLS OF PARENTS IN CONVERSATION AT N NESTLING(S); 2 ADULT(S)EST. 4) BLACKBIRD-LIKE CALLS OF ADULT ON ANOTHER TREE. 5) DRUMMING OF SAME ADULT ON SAME ADJACENT DEAD TREE. [This represents primarily the Chirp Calls of nestlings, these grading to Loud Chip Calls when the parents arrived to feed them (0:04-0:13, 0:59-1:12, 1:27-1:39, 2:21-2:38, 2:52-2:59). Scattered throughout are 29 examples of the "kyik" Call Notes of the parent(s), these most obvious between 3:02 and 3:50 when the young are relatiovely quiet. There is a single Drum at 3:18. Quality unchanged (2-1) - CAM - 26 April 2005]. Other Behaviors: Bill Drumming, Establish Parent Young Contact, Beg, Care For Young. Habitat: Creek.
