ants crawling over its body
Observasjonsdetaljer
After 18:15, all started calling. As I started the vehicle, I soon after spotted one sitting on the road. I had to flush it if I wanted to go - I was thinking about it, also about taking pictures. But villagers were coming and going through this road now. Still, I thought to give it a go. I wish I had seen & photographed them in natural light - will look forward to that - First try: a villager came with a motorbike and flushed the subject. - Second individual: a villager came walking and talking on the phone, and flushed it. Then I packed my camera and took out the battery and decided to leave. - As I started again, two individuals flew and sat on the path about 5 meters ahead. One faced me sideways and the other was little slanted a meter apart. This time, I again took out the camera, removed the extender, and sat down on the road wishing nobody would come now. - It worked. Nobody came and I could even take the vehicle a little bit more towards the two Nightjars for better lighting. Thanking the good headlights now. - These two individuals froze at the place and I could even approach within 2 meters. They didn't fly again at all to forage. The first individual even had ants crawling over its body, but it didn't flinch. It kept absolutely still. Meanwhile, the other was partially closing its eyelid, just as they do in the daylight/while resting. I wish I had seen & photographed them in the daylight like LTNI, - will look forward to that...
