Great harrier action... bummed today was the only day I got to be out here with them. First saw one adult male hunting. Noticed him vocalizing thought that was odd, then realized a second harrier was also calling. Didn't get a great look, but it was brown. Started to suspect it was maybe a juvenile still hanging around, begging? Vocalized in a begging manner multiple times. Eventually refound the brown one and felt pretty strongly that it had juvenile plumage (very chocolately on the back of the wings and orange rufous breast) . Of course it was getting dark and my SD card ran out, so the photos I got are not good. I saw someone posted a photo of two youngsters on the Tri-Cities Wildlife Photography page a few months ago, so I'm somewhat suspicious there was a successful nesting attempt on the island. On the way out I saw another one perched, hard to say whether it was the same individual or not. Seemed like the breast was not as orange, but I'll take a closer look at my photos when I get home. At the very least there was one adult male and one brown individual hanging out. ....
