Perched in the tallest pine on Cormorant’s Island. Seen about 2pm. Based primarily on the head plumage, this appears to be a third-year bird, or a sub-adult III. I recommend "Raptors of Eastern North America" by Brian K. Wheeler (Princeton University Press,2003) for lots of photos of the age plumages of this species.
