Sitting on a low dead tree on the marsh.Evil orange eyes short light grey beak, head pulled down into its body a little so as it looked around it's head moved like a tank turret. It was constantly looking around. After a fee minutes it dropped straight down onto the reeds. 5 minutes later a Sparrowhawk closer in a dead tree (see photo). I think it was the same one.puffing out its chest feathers as it sat. Then it flew off low over reeds. Long distinctive tail. 5 minutes later another one seen in a bush 150m distant. Sat there for 10 mins or so observing amd sometimes preening g. Not sure if this was the same bird again or another one. I think on balance they were all the same bird. Another one later.. 200m+ in dead tree at back of reed bed. Watched for 15minutes hard to tell it was a burd for a while. Shook it's tail so I knew it was something. Changed position and got better view certainly a sparrowhawk. The same one again... maybe? Seen at 14x. Looking this up later I think it was a juvenile... as back was brown not grey, and it had small white blotches on its back.
