Nice surprise at a backyard feeder. I noticed this hummer with buffy sides and grabbed the camera; glad it stayed for a couple minutes, taking a long drink. Notable markings were the light buffy sides, short bill, neatly spotted throat, and short tail compared to the longer-tailed Broad-tailed Hummingbird. Notable dark crescent in the lores, and appeared to have a few purplish feathers coming in just behind the eye. I didn’t notice a white line above the gape, so perhaps a juvenile male.
