Observasjonsdetaljer
notes and photos forthcoming. second duck from the left in the attached images. bird was actively foraging among normal Gadwalls and wigeons. my first thought was pintail in some sort of weird eclipse plumage. its neck was long and slender, body streamlined with longish tail. from the face to the rear-parts the plumage was a very uniform but marbled pale gray color. the head and face had no distinctive markings at all, nor did the body. the bill was completely black. hindparts were pintail-like with large whitish flank patch contrasting with black undertail coverts. the folded tail appeared to be white, and again it was elongate and pintail-like. I suppose the only other possibility is a really dull eclipse male pintail with retarded plumage progression, though that seems less likely.
