NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 6. Bulk reel: 145 8:30 to 8:45 AM. Weather: Thin cloudy. 139 tape. a) A few short chatter-song phrases. Quality: 2. Level: +3. Then some single calls and a few notes that were apparently going to be the beginning of a normal chatter song but it didn't develop. Quality: 2. Level: +3. (See part b) below). Then more 2-figure calls. (A previous silence of ~ 2' was edited out.) Quality: 2. Level: +3; 1-2. O. Then more calls and chatter song; bird no longer in focus. Qualitiy: 2-3. Level: +5. b) In a later recording, same day and probably shortly after the foregoing, with the recorder "running wild" a bird began calling out of focus. I then shifted focus to bird and the calls developed into a normal chatter song. Then another bird heard in background. Quality: 2 to 1. Level: +3. See also Cut 7 of Turdus fuscater. LNS: Reclassified from S. latebricola to S. meridanus based on identification by Tom Schulenberg. -M. Medler, 12 March 2009.
