Observasjonsdetaljer
first time seeing tibetan/siberian in guangdong, and first time seeing this species in breeding (almost) plumages! biking along, noted some shorebirds in mudflats not too far, did not realize what they were until looking through bins. used camera manual focus zoom all the time, although it was getting quite dark after about 10 mins, sunset time already. 7 in a group, counted exactly, probably came together, because at end of checklist they all took off at once and flew off together. mixed molt stages, maybe 1-2 juveniles, others in nonbreeding, some almost molted into nonbreeding with some colors left, and 2 that are closer to breedign plumage, only starting the molt, less color on crown already. sadly not siberian, which would be a new one for me, although both are uncommnon at this time, tibetan is a bit more probable. lack of white forehead, cleaner white sides, and more brownish than dark gray color, and just general impression, gives tibetan SP impressions. foraging around with the stints and other sandpipers, one was apparentliy pulling a looong worm out of the mud, did not realize until chedcing immages later, attached. pretty cute, pretty calm, not hurriedly running around. flew off southwest
