As per below was originally called Allen's male Hummingbird and now changed to a hybrid Allen's x Rufous Hummingbird Potential and looks good for Allen's male Hummingbird. Only one pair of Hummingbirds staying so far this year at home. The male looked a little different so took a video. Allen's and Rufous are virtually identical. Alternately "Sibley" says "up to 5% of Rufous Hummingbird show MOSTLEY green back". It appears that the tendency in Oregon is to call this bird a hybrid and they look identical to this bird so we could change this submission to hybrid if more acceptable to ebird Canada. Historically would call it the 5% Rufous but this bird also has an orange-rump and very strong green head crown as shown in Sibley's photo and could potentially easily be here. Comparing this bird to photos in Birds of the World it is much closer to Allen's showing the back to be half red and half green. Don't actually know if we have seen this feature here before? Have seen and reported a potential female here before which had the strong orange eyebrow. It appears that in Oregon this bird would be called a hybrid and is identical to our bird.. According to the research that appears reasonable and we could change this submission to hybrid if it was requested by ebird Canada..
