Saccharum spontaneum grass in which the weavers are weaving nest. Using the same grass in which the nest is been built
Observasjonsdetaljer
Initially 1 male and 6 females were seen in tall grass,(Saccharum spontaneum) growing along the edge of the water. It must have been few days since the nest building started, as there is already 1 ring made from the grass. After the females left the nest in next 5 minutes all males flew in from somewhere and started weaving. 1 male in non-breeding plumage was also seen but hard to say whether he was helping in making of the nests. Last two years I have seen them building nest in Saccharum munja grass. This year munja in the campsite was cut in March and since the new grass is not tall enough, probably thats why the birds are using this site and this grass species. Pictures and Video Available
