Observasjonsdetaljer
Exceptional record, first recorded a few days back. Co-ordinates: 22.80756 N, 88.23314 (private property, please seek permission before entering, Could/likely more than 1 since possible response in coming from the Mangifera indica opposite to the place it is found) A small backyard in the suburbs with few trees, mostly Mangifera indica and Artocarpus heterophyllus. The bird(s) is staying very high up in the canopy in dense foliage. Its rather much shyer than its more commoner counterpart-Blyth's Reed, and it doesn't descend to middle or lower storey of the trees. We were there for more than 3 hours, not once did the bird came down, once came out in open for a brief moment on a window pane but quickly receded its step. Constantly feeding on the insects and other invertebrates now present in the fresh mango flowers. Frequently moving around the top but frequently for momentarily sits quiet on branches obstructed by dense foliage. Calls include "kyyyaaaak, chyyyak"- a bit hoarser than Blyth's, and heard it singing a few times for a while. On to the description of the bird, size is similar (a bit bigger) to Blyth's Reed, a heavy and long bill giving it a 'more drooping forehead/sloping forehead' looks. Long, rounded tail with a very long undertail coverts, similar or proportionally more than Blyth's.
