Continuing, I was fortunate to amble right on up to where Chris, Malia and Summer were already enjoying views of the Piping Plover so was able to get a few decent looks right away at this rarity through a much better scope than mine! It was notably a lighter color (grayer) than the similar and numerous darker brown Semipalmated Plovers, broken breastband was also noted. Lighting was very poor from our vantage point (backlit) and the bird was quite distant, so only managed one barely discernable photograph as it chased a Semipalmated Plover at this location: 37.497885, -122.150175. It was quite aggressive to any Semipalmated Plover within its area so could be a good way to locate it if you see one plover chasing all the other plovers! We were "closest" to the bird when viewing from this section of the Ravenswood Trail (though a scope was still required): 37.497558, -122.152498. Trailhead and parking is here: 37.488813, -122.140650
