Observasjonsdetaljer
Third time finding this species at a new LA hotspot - crazy@&?! Found northwest of north lake with large geese flock. Small brownish goose (around half the size of a nearby Canada Goose), black bill with orange band (bill smaller than taiga), missing several primary and other wing feathers (some shafts visible). White belly, brown tail, white uppertail coverts, orange legs and feet. Made a few grunting and call vocalizations. When walking, the goose seems to waddle. Observed eating, sleeping, preening and walking around with other geese. Photos, videos. Update/Background: In comparing bill photos, this one matches the one at Apollo Park in Lancaster. This goose was originally found by Jon Feenstra at Piute Ponds on March 6. Later that day, I relocated the goose at Lancaster Water Reclamation Plant. Over a few weeks, the goose moved back and forth between the Water Reclamation Plant and Piute Ponds (I also saw the goose at Piute). I found the goose at a new hotspot, Apollo Park, on May 15.
