NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 37. Bulk reel: 30; Extra cut length: 4:48 Ba) Natural one-note calls (male?). Quality: 2. Level: +5.Bird moved to a different perch but continued the one-note call. (Recording not saved.)Then bird changed position and sang dawn song; then changed position again and continued dawn song; at same time a sescond bird is heard in dawn song. Quality: 2. Level: +5.Then one of these birds moved closer to me and continued singing dawn song. (Not sure which bird but probably the one that was more in focus.) Quality: (1-), 2. Level: +5.Note: These "dawn songs" after playback should be compared with the natural dawn songs of today and yesterday, also Cut 38.b) After playback, one of the two birds has moved in closer. (This sounds as if it may be male.) Quality: 1. Level: +3.Then after more playback. Quality: 1-2 to 1. Level: +10 to +3.Then some time after more playback. Quality: 1-. Level: +3.(Gain raised very high on a few songs near end.)Now after more playback. Quality: 1. Level: +2.Bird was adult, rufous backed; from size it appeared might be female but no proportion scale to permit exact estimate. Response to playback: Approach.
