Observasjonsdetaljer
Persistent and loud rattily song heard on 3RBC outing along Gravel Path near intersection with the Pipeline swath. Eventually observed Eastern Towhee doing the singing. Song not recognized by any in the group or by Merlin. Recording attached; unfortunately includes walking/talking noises as the bird quieted after we arrived and stopped discussing it but distinct song still clearly audible. An interesting observation is that with location services turned *off* Merlin IDed some of the song bursts as Spotted Towhee (along with some random other species as it generally does). Similar result when uploaded to BirdNET. Subsequent search of Macaulay Library for both species found one somewhat similar recording for a Spotted Towhee---catalog number ML202271. Song clearly not typical for either species.
