Observasjonsdetaljer
I was looking for a Chestnut-sided Warbler that was singing nearby when a small bird alighted on a tree branch roughly 4 yards in front of me and three to four yards above my head, thus probably no more than about 5 to 6 yards away from me. I had close focusing 10X Binos and got a good look at the bird. My first impression was of a Blue-winged Warbler that had quite more black over the eyes than normal and had a strong yellow chest and top of head. As the bird turned its head towards me I saw the extensive patch of black in its throat and immediately recognized what it was since I had read about those hybrids. I said to my wife “It is a rarity, a Lawrence’s Warbler!" . The bird promptly flew away and disappeared in the trailside vegetation not to be seen again by us and my wife never got to see it. I added, as media, a map showing the spot where I saw this bird. The bird did not hang around long enough for a photo.
