Observasjonsdetaljer
Large Myiarchus flycatcher with an abnormally bright yellow abdomen and chest as compared to Brown crested Flycatcher (much brighter lemon yellow that extends higher up on the chest). The bill also appeared to be abnormally large i.e. long. The tail was bright rufous (This was especially noticeable when the bird would fly over us, back-and-forth). At 3:36 pm I heard a flycatcher whistling, giving soft, wet toot sounds, almost like somebody doing a bad imitation of a Brown-crested Flycatcher. The sounds were coming from the west and sounded like some kind of a Myiarchus, but did not sound like any of the species we usually see and hear in California e.g. Dusky capped (annual winter visitor), Brown crested (breeder, rare wintering visitor), or Ash-throated (breeder, extremely rare wintering visitor). Photos and audio TBA (to be added) as soon as possible.
