I was floating down the Manu River with the four-man Indian crew in the 40' dugout and taped this from the jungle as it passed by. Rest of party was in a rubber raft to which I didn't trust my equipment. This was near ox-bow lake, Cocha Otorongo which means 'jaguar'. There were many. We saw four and lots of tracks. no growls or howling to record. Ben Coffey identified species from tape. Other Behaviors: Emit Alarm. Habitat: Freshwater, Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Deciduous Forest, River, Riparian.
