Observasjonsdetaljer
Details Two individuals in Basic II staying tightly together. Birds flushed twice (once at 440 meters) when we approached them and they stayed very aware of us. The 2nd time they flew they picked up over the damn into Knox County and then over the marina in SD. No bands on legs and halluces were intact on both feet of one bird and one seen on the other individual (other foot wasn’t visible). Pics tba. Another factor adding to the credibility of these birds being feral is the age of the birds: (Marks 2018) states: "Non-breeding sub-adults disperse in the spring to sites with suitable habitat. This may be their birth site or a new area, depending upon the aggressiveness of adult birds in the area." Marks, D.R. 2018. Mute Swans. Wildlife Damage Management Technical Series. USDA, APHIS, WS National Wildlife Research Center. Fort Collins, Colorado. 14p.
