Observasjonsdetaljer
The combination of the brown back without olive tones, white supercilium that broadens and is widest behind the eye and this bird's habit of strongly rotating its tail from side to side as it bobbed suggests the bird is a Louisiana Waterthrush. I did not hear the bird call or get a good look at the throat as my views were mainly from above the bird. I have two poor photos that I can email upon request. I see Northern Waterthrush in California most falls, but have very limited experience with Louisiana Waterthrush.
