The Golden Plovers!! At first, there were very few of them about; the first one was actually totally alone, bizarrely... but then, with the rising of the tide, more and more appeared until there was a healthy flock!! They were actually most happy feeding out on the sandbanks across the river, which was quite interesting when the mud and succulents were so open and inviting... but still!! A fair while before the tide actually started rising, like they'd foreseen it somehow, they made their way in to roost amongst the succulents with unerring accuracy, which made for some great shots and remarkable views of the succulents bristling with tall, alert birds... I spent so long searching for anything truly obscure that I didn't spend as much time with the Golden Plovers as I might at, say, Orielton, but I definitely still appreciated them very much!!
