Two males were facing off atop a red-flowering Sinphonia tree at the swamp edge along the E. O. Wilson Trail on a cloudy morning. Background includes: Plumbeous Pigeon, a trogon, and a probable Yellow-billed Jacamar. There is also a male White-necked Jacobin feeding in the tree and vocalizing as well--giving sweeter chips than the hard chips of the Topaz. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 covered with an 8" shock mount & Auray fuzzy windshield.
Observasjonsdetaljer
We watched and recorded 4 in one tall, red-blossoming tree, males chasing each other and occasionally other hummers in constant battle. One additional male was sitting on a perch in a different tree of the same species—though mostly in bud rather than full bloom—further out the trail.
