Various calls from an immature male foraging on hackberries at close range. Towards the end of the cut a Cooper's Hawk makes a swipe at the bird, and it flies away giving cackling calls.
Observasjonsdetaljer
Continuing female and immature male. Mostly seen as they were sitting still and looking around slowly, typical of trogons. Also lots of feeding on berries, both up high and lower down right by the road. At one point a Cooper’s Hawk made a swipe at the male, and it flew away calling loudly (luckily captured on tape!) before perching high in a sycamore. There were several bouts of counter-calling after that, and even a little bit of song. Then audible well above the bridge at 5:23, but quickly disappeared up-canyon. At 5:45 both birds reappeared near the bridge and called with lots of squee-chuks and a few cackles for ~8 minutes before going to roost.
