Observasjonsdetaljer
Small pale cookilaria gave brief views in fairly bad light at the shelf. Lack of a dark cap ruled out Gould's Petrel and lack of extensive black tick mark in underwing, seen in photos below, ruled out Black-winged Petrel. Structure was wrong for Pycroft's Petrel, which has shorter wings and a longer tail. The bird was first called by Chris Burwell as it approached the boat and made one pass before heading back up the slick. Ten minutes later I saw another cookilaria, almost certainly the same bird, approach from the back of the boat. This time it did not come in, but continued past the boat and away in front of the bow. Identified on board from photographs - upperwing shots by Paul Walbridge and underwing photos by John Gunning.
