Observasjonsdetaljer
Generally bluish/gray above with a bright olive/green center of back. Two bold white wing bars, from some angles showing a hint of yellow, perhaps a reflection of the vegetation. Flight feathers black. Yellow breast, tending to richer orange at the center of the breast. White lower belly, lower flanks and undertail coverts. Black forehead and mask, blending back into bluish/gray nape and crown. Black mask contrasted strongly against yellow chin, throat and lower face in a basically straight like back from the gape, accentuated by a yellowish/flesh lower mandible and lower half of upper mandible contrasting with blackish culmen. Black eye. Some photos seemed to hint at a faint pale lower eye arc, but this may have been an artifact. The yellow on the throat faded slightly to paler/whitish near the black mask. Pale legs. While we observed the bird, it fed actively in the outer and upper portions of the trees ranging from about 10 to 20 feet high (the height of the local trees) making it generally pretty easy to observe. The bird also called frequently: a loud, sharp, piercing, musical “sweet!” That reminded me most of Yellow Warbler, but with some of the harsh quality of an Orange-crowned Warbler. Recording of call attached.
