An endemic bird of New Zealand and the only bird in the world with a bill curved to the right so that it can forage under.....the stones of the braided river banks which are it's breeding habitat in the South Island. This bird was seen quite a distance from it's usual habitat - on a large bay at the southern end of New Zealand. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: June 21, 2016.
