A pair of Galahs inspecting a potential nest hollow. Beautiful pink and grey Galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla) have moved on to the south-western coastal plain of Western Australia since the climate began to dry, and now compete with other tree hole nesters such as Black Cockatoos. This pair of Galahs was inspecting a prospective nest site in a hollow in an old Marri tree (Corymbia calophylla) on the foreshore of Peel Inlet at Coodanup. The male (with a dark eye) was perched above the hollow as the female (with a reddish eye) flew in. The female climbed into the hollow, but rejected it and flew off, leaving the male behind. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: September 8, 2019.
