A Purple-crested Turaco perching, feeding and preening. Purple-crested Turacos (Gallirex porphyreolophus) belong to the Musophagidae, a family of birds that is endemic to Africa. Purple-crested Turacos are found in the eastern part of southern Africa, and are found in riverine woodland and gardens with large trees. Purple-crested Turacos eat fruit and leaf buds. This Turaco was eating leaf buds from a tree in the Pretoriuskop Restcamp, in Kruger National Park, South Africa. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: August 11, 2019.
