A Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater perching, then flying off. Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters (Acanthagenys rufogularis) are a well-known honeyeater of the arid and semi-arid parts of Australia. They are conspicuous and aggressive, often driving other honeyeaters away from sources of nectar. This Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater perched briefly amongst dead twigs near the homestead on Wooleen Station, in Western Australia’s Murchison region. Elevation: 293 m. Date added to IBC: July 2, 2019.
