Banded Stilts and some Red-necked Avocets sheltering from a strong wind. Banded Stilts (Cladorhynchus leucocephalus) are nomadic waders that get their name from the reddish-brown breast band seen on breeding adults. The breast band is mottled or absent in juveniles and non-breeding adults. They are found mainly in southern Australia in large saline or hypersaline lakes near the coast or inland. These Stilts were sheltering from a very strong wind with Red-necked Avocets (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) in Hutt Lagoon, a famous pink saline lake near Port Gregory, Western Australia. Elevation: 2 m. Date added to IBC: September 12, 2019.
