A female Burrowing Owl on mown grass. The Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) is a small diurnal owl found in open habitats in North and South America. This family of Burrowing Owls made their burrow on a traffic roundabout in the town of Comandante Andresito, on Provincial Route 19 in northern Argentina. The female Burrowing Owl landed on the mown grass nearby, looking for prey. Elevation: 253 m. Date added to IBC: February 16, 2019.
