A pair of Crested Francolins pecking through elephant dung. The Crested Francolin (Dendroperdix sephaena), like other birds in its family, often forages for seeds and insects in the fresh dung of large herbivores. This pair of Crested Francolins (the male bird is on the right and has spurs) were pecking through fresh elephant dung on the Dithabaneng Route, Pilanesberg National Park at sunset. Elevation: 1305 m. Date added to IBC: February 15, 2019.
