A Dark-bellied Cinclodes foraging amongst rocks on the Straits of Magellan. The Dark-bellied Cinclodes (Cinclodes patagonicus) is commonly found foraging amongst rocks on the coast, and also occurs near freshwater marshes, streams and lakes. This species is found from about Santiago in the north southwards to far southern Chile and Argentina. Dark-bellied Cinclodes feed on small invertebrates, and usually forage alone. This bird was hunting amongst rocks on the beach of the Straits of Magellan at Punta Arenas in southern Chile. Elevation: 7 m. Date added to IBC: March 16, 2019.
