A Red-rumped Cacique at the entrance to its nest. Red-rumped Caciques (Cacicus haemorrhous) breed in large colonies, often of 20-30 nests. Successful males are polygynous, and leave it up to the female to build the nest, incubate the eggs and raise the chicks. This Red-rumped Cacique was perching at the entrance to its nest that was part of a large nesting colony in a palm near the entrance of Iguazu National Park, in Argentina. Elevation: 218 m.
