Breeding Wattled Starlings perching in a Knobthorn. The Wattled Starling (Creatophora cinerea)is a summer breeding migrant to Kruger Park in South Africa, arriving during the wet season when there is an abundance of insects for food. Breeding males develop bright yellow unfeathered skin on their heads with a black forehead and throat wattles. Wattled Starlings form large noisy flocks that follow large grazing animals, catching and eating the insects disturbed by them. These birds were in a Knobthorn, Acacia nigrescens. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: April 17, 2018.
